As we embark on a new semester, I am excited to share that our searches for the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) have come to a successful conclusion and the open positions are filled. This fully established ELT will provide stability in a rapidly changing global, national and higher-education landscape while allowing us to focus our efforts on solving our challenges and elevating our opportunities.

As we approach the winter holidays, I want to express my deepest gratitude to each and every one of you.

Your dedication and hard work over the past year have been remarkable, and I am truly thankful for the incredible contributions you make to UCCS. When I think of this past year, three words come to mind: strength, collaboration and innovation. This is what makes UCCS so special. Together, we build on our great foundation as a university as we work toward creating the UCCS of the future.

I am pleased to announce that campus will provide a merit increase to eligible faculty and university staff employees effective January 2025. The Chancellor and Executive Leadership Team recognize and are grateful for your daily hard work and commitment to our Mountain Lion community.

Message from Jennifer Sobanet, Chancellor

The fall semester is already off to an exciting start! I have so enjoyed seeing our students back on campus in our classrooms. It's hard to believe we have already officially reached our census date, and we have lots of good news to celebrate.  

We now have just over 11,000 students building brighter futures at UCCS. Our main campus credit hours have increased from last fall, which is a wonderful milestone and a reflection of how hard we all are working to recruit and retain our dedicated students.

As we begin the new school year, each member of the UCCS community will have numerous opportunities to learn via events, debates and forums during which you will engage in the free expression of ideas. In addition to our role as a center for learning and research, we have a responsibility as a public university to foster and set an example for the respectful and non-violent dialogue of a democratic society. Learning about diverse views through free expression is at the core of our academic mission.
