Stay Vigilant, Stay Safe Over Labor Day

"To continue to offer in-person, on-campus experiences at UCCS, we must stay vigilant – especially over this holiday weekend." — Chancellor Venkat Reddy

Dear members of the UCCS community,

We have had an exceptional first two weeks of the semester. I am so proud of our Mountain Lion community for rising to the challenges presented by learning, teaching and working during the COVID-19 pandemic. With the long Labor Day weekend approaching, I hope you will take some time to relax and rejuvenate.

However, to continue to offer in-person, on-campus experiences at UCCS, we must stay vigilant – especially over this holiday weekend.

It is imperative that you keep your gatherings small this weekend. Follow the three W’s: wear your mask, wash your hands and watch your distance. Avoid large parties. Stand up for what you know is right, and continue to set a strong example for those around you.

We have put forth a tremendous, collective effort to safeguard our campus against COVID-19. Our positive case rate is well below the average of universities nationwide. Statewide, Colorado has hit its lowest positivity rate since March: close to two percent. We must continue to stay vigilant and committed to maintaining the health and safety of our entire community.

Let us continue to prove to our city, our state and the country that we can rise to the challenges presented by this pandemic. Only our collective efforts will allow us to succeed.

Let’s commit to protecting and keeping each other safe,
