Celebrating Spring Commencement

"I’m overjoyed that, due to improving public health conditions, we are able to add an in-person component to the spring Commencement celebrations." — Chancellor Venkat Reddy

Dear members of the UCCS community,

After more than a year of uncertainty, we are finally beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel. With COVID-19 vaccines rolling out across the nation, we can begin to plan – cautiously, but optimistically – for brighter days ahead.

With the same spirit, I am very pleased to announce that our Commencement celebrations will take place in two formats.

First, we will hold a virtual Commencement ceremony on Friday, May 14 at 1:00 p.m. Second, for all graduates who would like to celebrate in person, we will hold the first-ever “Picture on the Plaza” celebration the following week. Weather permitting, graduates will be able to have a professional photo taken on El Pomar Plaza. This in-person, outdoor celebration will symbolize the completion of graduates' studies at UCCS and the beginning of their next phase of life.

Graduates planning to join either or both of these festivities should keep an eye out for registration information, which will be sent the week of March 8. Additional information, including viewing links for the virtual ceremony, will be distributed closer to the event.

Please make sure to visit commencement.uccs.edu for additional information on logistics for this semester’s ceremony.

We know that celebrating graduation and having these special memories captured are important to our graduates. So, we will also extend an invitation to participate in the photo opportunity to our spring, summer and fall graduates of the Classes of 2020, who celebrated at virtual-only ceremonies.

Our graduates have dedicated years to earning their degrees, and we are all looking forward to recognizing their accomplishments. I’m overjoyed that, due to improving public health conditions, we are able to add an in-person component to the celebrations. Please join me in congratulating the members of the Class of 2021, and I hope to “see” you at the virtual ceremony on May 14.

Respectfully,
