Winter Break Leave

"In this season of celebration, nothing has given me more reason to celebrate than seeing the UCCS spirit at work." — Chancellor Venkat Reddy

Dear members of the UCCS community,

In this season of celebration, nothing has given me more reason to celebrate than seeing the UCCS spirit at work.

Each and every day this year, I have seen the commitment our faculty and staff have for the university and our students. In the face of the most extraordinary year we’ve ever seen, our community has risen to meet every challenge. Your hard work and sacrifices have not gone unnoticed. And when I see what you have accomplished this year, I am filled with gratitude and pride.

In the spirit of this gratitude, allow me to share that I am adding an additional administrative leave day at the end of this month to include Dec. 28 and 29. When combined with the existing university holidays this will allow all employees to use just one vacation or furlough day to enjoy a well-deserved vacation from Dec. 24 through Jan. 3.

During this period, campus will essentially be closed except for essential services like public safety, facilities and critical research, plus healthcare services in the Hybl Center and Lane Center. My hope is that most of us can use this time to rest, relax and recharge our batteries for what I expect will be another unique semester.

The Office of Human Resources will automatically update your MyLeave portal with the expanded administrative leave dates and provide additional guidance for those employees who will still need to work and access buildings during that time. For those essential employees that work during this period, their supervisors will be able to schedule the admin leave for a more convenient time before June 30, 2021.

Thank you for your tireless work and commitment to UCCS. I wish you a happy, safe, healthy and peaceful holiday.

Go Mountain Lions!

Respectfully,
