Stephanie Hanenberg

Interim Vice Chancellor for Enrollment Management and Student Affairs

About

Stephanie Hanenberg has been with the University of Colorado Colorado Springs since August 2005. She started as the Student Health Center director and currently serves as the interim vice chancellor for enrollment management and student affairs. In her role, she oversees 32 departments and programs dedicated to supporting students from their pre-collegiate and recruitment activities through their academic journey and commencement. Stephanie has always been passionate about working with college-aged students, making this interim role deeply rewarding as she connects with them at every stage of their journey.

Prior to this interim appointment she served as the assistant vice chancellor for health and wellness where she provided direct oversight for the Gallogly Recreation and Wellness Center's campus recreation, mental health, health, nutrition, and wellness promotion services. This model is one of the first in the nation to integrate and co-locate all five disciplines into one building. Hanenberg also oversaw Disability Services and the Testing Center and saw patients one day a week as a family nurse practitioner. She previously taught one of our Gateway Program Seminar classes to incoming freshmen for 11 years and served on the American College Health Association board for 7 years, including the role of president. During her time on that board, she was able to bring her passion for what she does on campus to a national level.

Hanenberg is also a two-time alum of UCCS’ Helen and Arthur E. Johnson Beth-El College of Nursing and Health Sciences where she earned her undergraduate degree in nursing and her master’s degree in nursing as a family nurse practitioner.

Prior to coming to UCCS, Hanenberg was the sole provider in a clinic within a local high school that also served community members with a focus on providing care to underserved populations. Before obtaining her certification as a nurse practitioner, she served as the director of nursing at a local private boarding high school for 11 years.

Hanenberg is a Colorado native so many of her hobbies involve being outdoors. She loves to camp, boat, snowmobile, hike, attend sporting events and concerts, and travel to new and exciting places. All of these activities involve spending time with family and friends, which is the most important thing in her life. She is married to her high school sweetheart and has two amazing children.
